Cultural Coordinator
May 19th through August 31st, 2024
Wednesday to Sunday, 10am - 5pm
Rate: $16.50/hour
(Possibility of weekends in September & October)

The Cultural Coordinator will work closely with the facility manager to plan and execute annual special events like the Great Little Art Show, Sofa Sundays, Open Studio, Solstice Market, Wharf Day, the and the Honey Harvest Festival and events in relation to the Acadian World Congress/Congrès mondial acadien 2024.
The Cultural Coordinator will be based out of the Artists Landing Art Gallery and Planters Sea Chest Gift Shop and will act as a guide for those exploring art exhibits and attending events. They will be responsible for welcoming visitors and for the general cleanliness of both the art gallery and gift shop areas.
The Cultural Coordinator will liaise with the coordinator for the Full Circle Festival to organize museum activities in correlation with the 3 day festival (Solstice Market, museum tours, workshops).
The Cultural Coordinator will follow a marketing plan, placing ads and scheduling social media posts in relation to cultural events directed at supporting local and regional tourism development.
The Cultural Coordinator will be responsible for managing the daily deposits and preparing sales reports.
The Cultural Coordinator will communicate with vendors, collect and audit inventory, and enter the products into Square, providing a corresponding description and image. This information will also be shared on our website and social media accounts.
The Cultural Coordinator will work with the Archive Assistant to identify artifacts to be highlighted on social media, scheduling weekly posts for the duration of 2024 (approximately 35 posts/artifacts)

The Archives Assistant will be based out of the Archive Room and will ensure that artifacts are stored properly and handled correctly.
The Archives Assistant will work with the Curator, Museum Interpreter/Researcher, Cultural Coordinator and Facility Manager to research the Acdadian communities and families who once resided along the Avon River, preparing an exhibit and web content in relation to the Acadian World Congress/Congrès mondial acadien 2024.
The Archives Assistant will audit our collection to ensure all information entered into our database is correct and complete. Archives Assistant will conduct research on artifacts lacking proper descriptions.
The Archives Assistant will aid the Collections Committee and Facility Manager in preparing for our upcoming Museum Evaluation in 2024 by reviewing documents and other materials and ensuring the information is up to date and ready for submission to auditors.

Grounds and Maintenance Assistant

The Grounds and Maintenance Assistant will be based out of the Avon Spirit Shipyard and will ensure the site is kept tidy and organized in advance of events and rentals.
Under the guidance of the Facility Maintenance Manager and Facility Manager the Grounds and Maintenance Assistant will complete small projects like constructing exhibits for the museum and minor repairs to the museum, like replacing shingles.
The Grounds and Maintenance Assistant will work closely with the Facility Maintenance Manager and Facility Manager to tend to the ongoing upkeep of the facility and in the development of a Capital Plan, creating a timeline for minor and major upgrades and renovations to be accomplished over the next 3 years.
The Grounds and Maintenance Assistant will work closely with the Facility Maintenance Manager to obtain quotes for various projects associated with the Capital Plan.
The Grounds and Maintenance Assistant will ensure the grounds are kept tidy at all times, walkways are clear and gardens are watered and maintained.
The Grounds and Maintenance Assistant will install new wayfinding signage in an effort to improve local and regional tourism.
